Funds List
Thanks to a great many supporters who love Denfeld High School, the Greater Denfeld Foundation has a great many funds to supplement the great work of students and teachers.
Scholarships
Marie V. Saltwick Scholarship (about 12 @ $3,000 renewable):
Provides scholarships for Denfeld High School graduates with a primary selection criteria of “good character.” Marie Saltwick, a native of Duluth, returned to her hometown following her graduation from Carleton College and taught at Denfeld High School for over 40 years. She was a challenging and compassionate teacher and influenced the lives of many Denfeld students.

Armond Hauge Scholarship (about 20 @ $3,000/renewable):
Provides scholarships for Denfeld High School graduates with a primary selection criteria of “hard work.” Mr. Hauge worked as an auto mechanic for most of his career and was repeatedly recognized for the effort he put into his daily work.

Awards
Greater Denfeld Foundation Award (four @ $4,000):
Awards given to students who exemplify the “Spirit of a Denfeld Hunter” with a combination of good academics, contributions to school, and respect of the student body and the faculty. This is the highest honor to the “best of the best.
Greater Denfeld Foundation Linda Soderstrom Service Award (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding service to school and/or the community.
Greater Denfeld Foundation Mark Overland Performing Arts Award: (one @ $1,000)
Award given to a student excelling in and pursuing a music/performing arts degree.

Greater Denfeld Foundation STEM Award (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a student who demonstrates a strong aptitude for Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
Greater Denfeld Foundation BEA Award (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a student who will be pursuing a Business, Economics, or Accounting degree.
Greater Denfeld Foundation Health Science Award (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a student who will be pursuing a degree in a health-related field.
Greater Denfeld Foundation Trades Award (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a student pursuing a degree in (but not limited to) a building-, industrial-, or mechanical-related trade career.
Darin J. Cannon Scholarship (one @ $1,250):
Award given to an athlete who works hard in school and other aspects of life.
G. Del Daedo Leadership Awards (two @ $1,000):
Awards given to students who demonstrate a combination of leadership, good academics, contributions to school, and respect of the student body and the faculty.

Greater Denfeld Foundation Americo “Mertz” Mortorelli Scholarship (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a male or female athlete who has participated in four years of high school athletics and is of good standing. The recipient must attend a four-year college or university.
Kreager/Ackerman Scholarship (one @ $1,000):
Award given to a girl attending college in Minnesota who is in the top 10%, exhibits strong leadership and is involved in vocal music, student government, and sports.

Richard Jukich Award (one @ $700):
Award given to a student who demonstrates a combination of good academics, contributions to school, has the respect of the student body and the faculty, and who intends to pursue a degree in education.
Matt Kero Award (two @ $1,604):
Award is presented to a student-athlete who has balanced athletics, academics, leadership, and citizenship throughout their high school career.

Faculty & Staff Grants
The Greater Denfeld Foundation Memorial Fund provides grants to Denfeld High School faculty and staff who wish to implement unique projects and programs beyond those funded by regular school budgets. Recently about $12,000 – $15,000 have been awarded annually.
