Lauren Scott has found her passion in Human Development and Family Studies. As an upcoming senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she has gained knowledge in this field that will allow her to pursue her goal of family law. She is an alumna of Denfeld High School (Class of 2022) and a recipient of the Saltwick scholarship.

Scott’s favorite part about studying Human Development and Family Studies is learning how families interact with each other and how relationships evolve over time. She is also obtaining a certificate in Business.

She is involved in two different student organizations; Letters of Love and the Pre-Law Society. Letters of Love sends handwritten letters to pediatric patients in hopes of brightening their tough times. She has been in this club since her Freshman year because spreading kindness and supporting children/families facing medical challenges is important to her. It has reminded her of the impact small gestures can have on people. Pre-Law Society supports students interested in pursuing legal careers. As a member of the Pre-Law Society, Scott has gained valuable insights into the legal field through guest speakers, law school panels, and networking opportunities. Her involvement reflects her dedication to preparing for law school and a legal career. Scott is currently interning at the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office and is greatly enjoying it.

“I think it is so special that Denfeld High School is able to support their students in such amazing ways by providing them scholarships to be able to attend college and experience new opportunities,” Scott says.

This past spring, Scott had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy for four months. She lived in an apartment with ten girls while taking four classes, including Psychology and Italian Culture. She traveled to other countries on weekends seeing as she had no classes on Fridays, allowing her to explore new parts of the world. Besides studies and travel, Scott also had the opportunity to show her family around Florence when they visited her on her study abroad; this opportunity to show them her second home is something she will always remember and value.

The Greater Denfeld Foundation has significantly impacted Scott’s education by helping fund her studies in Madison and Italy for the past three years. Last semester, the scholarship was especially impactful during her study abroad in Florence. “I think it is so special that Denfeld High School is able to support their students in such amazing ways by providing them scholarships to be able to attend college and experience new opportunities,” Scott says.

Since 1971, the Greater Denfeld Foundation has been dedicated to supporting Duluth Denfeld High School students by providing awards and scholarships for their post-secondary education expenses, along with donations to staff to ensure students have access to a valuable and enriching educational experience.
