As we reflect on what would have been Armond Hauge’s 100th Birthday on September 2, we are looking at the real-world impact of a man who saved half of every paycheck to invest in the graduates of Denfeld High School.
For 2023 Denfeld alumnus Brayden Rock, Mr. Hauge’s legacy isn’t just history—it’s the foundation of his everyday life. Brayden is currently in his senior year at the University of Minnesota Morris, majoring in Biology with a Pre-Dental focus, hard at work preparing for his next major milestone: applying to dental school.
Navigating four years of undergrad on a healthcare track comes with significant commitment, but receiving the Hauge Scholarship completely shifted what was possible for Brayden’s college experience.
“Receiving the Hauge Scholarship allows me to afford college without needing student loans,” Brayden shares. “I realized I could afford all four years of college and still be able to afford more activities like studying abroad, which I have always wanted to do.”
When asked if there is a specific story that best captures how the scholarship changed his path, Brayden keeps his focus squarely on the horizon: “Not yet. My journey is still ongoing.”
Thanks to Armond Hauge’s incredible foresight and generosity, scholars like Brayden can write those next chapters debt-free, with the freedom to dream big.
Happy 100th Birthday, Mr. Hauge. Thank you for making futures like Brayden’s possible.
