One Denfeld graduate who received the Hauge scholarship is Kelly Killorin. She graduated from Denfeld in 2019 and immediately enrolled into Northwestern University near Chicago. She graduated from Northwestern in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in theatre, a minor in religious studies, and a certificate in musical theatre. After graduation, Kelly began working as an actress in the Chicago area including a recent national tour as a part of PAW Patrol Live! She also helps high schoolers with their college applications.
“I was elated to receive the Hauge scholarship. Because of the Hauge, and other Duluth scholarships, the weight of paying for college felt a lot less heavy. It also felt incredibly encouraging to receive this support from the community” said Killorin.
The support of the Hauge scholarship made it possible for Kelly to avoid getting a work study job and so she was able to focus all of her energy on her studies. Kelly is not alone in this. More than 400 students have been able to focus on their studies because of Mr. Hauge’s gift. Thanks to his generosity, future Denfeld graduates will have the chance to pursue their future and change their lives for the better.
