Ashley Grondahl – Supported by Community to Care for Others

October 8, 2026

As we celebrate what would have been Armond Hauge’s 100th birthday on September 2nd, we are reflecting on how his generosity continues to empower Denfeld graduates to reach their full potential.

Today, we feature Ashley Grondahl (Fern), a 2014 Denfeld graduate who used the support of the Hauge Scholarship to pursue a four-year nursing degree that opened doors to a rich and varied healthcare career.

Choosing the Four-Year Path

Financial constraints often shape major life decisions, including which degree path to pursue. For Ashley, the Hauge Scholarship lifted that burden and allowed her to aim higher.

“Without the additional financial help for schooling, I likely would have not picked the career I’m currently in, or would have pursued a two-year degree instead of a four-year degree,” Ashley shares. “The scholarship made getting through college easier by taking the additional financial strain and burden of debt off.”

With that crucial backing, Ashley attended the College of St. Scholastica, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) after four years of dedicated study.

A Career Built on Care and Versatility

Today, Ashley is a highly accomplished Registered Nurse holding over five specialized certifications. Throughout her career, she has cared for patients across a wide spectrum of medicine, including intensive care, labor and delivery, and cardiology.

“Through the support of the community, you can accomplish so much more than you thought would be possible,” says Ashley.

Ashley’s journey is a clear testament to how a single scholarship can elevate a student’s ambition, leading to a lifetime of service back to the community.
